Seashore Lace Shawl

This is how I write my knitting patterns, mad or what! I have to visualise the pattern & work out the yo's to see how the pattern alters as it increases.

I have the knitted the pattern a 2nd time to check what I've typed is correct, found a couple of little mistakes but it worked.  This is the shawl once it's been blocked.

New Shawl - Field Of Flowers

Have just finished a new shawl, am really pleased with it, am calling it Field of Flowers, unless I can think of anything better. It starts with small flowers, then progresses to flowers with 1 set of leaves, then 2 sets of leaves & then finally the edging is the flower, 2 sets of leaves & a stem. Think it would lovely with a bead in the middle of each flower & maybe going down the stem. Will have to have a go knitting one like that. But for now I've got to write the pattern up, that'll take me long enough! And then I need to make some stock for Percy House in Cockermouth as sold quite a lot before Christmas & am running very low.

Will post some pictures when I've taken them!

WOW at Rheged

It was the opening of the WOW (Wonder of Wool) at Rheged, Penrith on Friday night & it was brilliant, there are some really clever people out there.

I loved this hare made out of herdwick fleece.

My shawl on display, shame they didn't put it on the wall or a plain dummy, can't really see the pattern or beads very well.

The Wool Clip's display, 10 pieces from 10 of us for 10 years in business!

Cumbria Life

Well, it's out!! I'm in the September issue of Cumbria Life & am really pleased with the article, I think Mary who did the interview has made my ramblings sound quite intelligent & Phil's photos are a masterpiece, I'll never forget how cold that water was though....

new shawl

This is a shawl that was order from someone at Woolfest. It's in 100% merino in bright red & even if I say so myself I thinks it looks fantastic, am really pleased with the way it turned out.

this is the middle scetion, on the left is Estonian star stitch, then on the right is blossom stitch, another Estonian stitch

photos of more shawls....

2 lovely shawls knitted in 100% merino, so fine but so warm too!

This is knitted in a double knit with a metallic thread through it which catches the light - brilliant!

Swallowtail, front & back knitted in K1 Yarns from Edinburgh, laceweight linen/cotton in a gorgeous purple.

Print O' the Wave Stole, this is an old Shetland pattern that's meant to show the print of the wave in the sand....

Easy Peasy, Lemon Squeezy Lace Shawl, with beads

I knitted it again in laceweight yarn, but this time added a bead into each of the picots, it's really pretty as it catches the light.
Does my bum look big in this? - Don't bothering answering, I know....

All the picots pinned out

Easy Peasy, Lemon Squeezy Lace Shawl in Double Knit

This is the same shawl, but knitted in a double knit weight yarn, it has a silver thread running through it, which catches the light. You can see the picots quite well.

Easy Peasy, Lemon Squeezy Lace Shawl

This is me trying to be arty!

And again!

But you get a better idea of what the shawl looks like from this one. It's a very easy pattern, taken from my Sampler Lace Shawl pattern, just using a combination of eyelet & stockinette then finishing off with a picot edging. The pattern for this will be in this years Woolfest programme.

This is it with the picots pinned out, blocking.

Shetland Lace Shawl & Old Patterns

A lady brought in her Shetland Lace Shawl which she knitted 30 years ago but had never blocked it, she's now in her 90's & can't bend down to do it so brought it into The Woolclip for me to do. It's difficult to see the detail but it's absolutely wonderful. Think it was worth the wait!

She taught arts & crafts over about 50 years & had the most amazing collection of crochet & knitting patterns, which she very kindly let us look through & keep what we wanted.

And then when words had a different meaning.....

And who in their right mind would want a knitted swimsuit? You would trying diving would you?
